Information about health, safety, and benefits
The most important
thing to know about benefits is that some plans have a Period of
Initial Eligibility (PIE), which is usually 31 days from your date
of hire. You must enroll within that period of time. Most campus
departments have a Department
Benefits Counselor who can help you with enrollment. If your
department does not have a DBC, please contact the HR Benefits
Unit at 642-7053 or send email to benefits@berkeley.edu
if you need assistance.
UC health and retirement benefits are administered by the systemwide
Office of the President (UCOP). You'll find that many of the links
on these web pages will take you to At Your Service, UCOP's benefits
website.

Please
note:
Vacation, sick leave, and holidays are determined by personnel policy
and bargaining agreements. Please see the personnel
policy or bargaining agreement that
covers your position for information on these topics. If you are a
Visiting or Post-doctoral Scholar, please check with your department
for information about your benefits.
