Notice on PPSM Policy Changes
Berkeley Campus Policies/Procedures

The Berkeley campus is planning to make the following changes to provisions of the Personnel Polices for Staff Members (PPSM). Employees covered by the provisions of PPSM are encouraged to submit comments regarding the planned policy changes to hrpolicy@berkeley.edu by July 11, 2009. Pending consideration of comments, these policy changes would be retroactively-effective as of July 1, 2009.

PPSM POLICY 2: DEFINITION OF TERMS
Under the terms of the change, the midpoint of the salary range would be substituted for the salary range maximum for purposes of determining actions under policy including:  position level comparison, promotion, demotion, transfer, and layoff, and re-employment rights for all PPSM policies. This policy revision will be subject to re-review as of July 1, 2011. The purpose of the policy change is to provide more consistency with best practices in compensation policy.
