Open Enrollment for 2008
Open Enrollment is coming!
Open Enrollment this year is from November 1st through November 27th, 2007. Changes are effective January 1, 2008. All changes are made online. If you make changes, remember to confirm them! If you do not confirm your changes, they will not occur. Check your January 1, 2008 pay statement to make sure all of your changes are accurately reflected.
There will be an Open Enrollment Medical Plan Information Fair on Friday, November 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Lipman Room at the top of Barrows Hall. Only the medical plan vendors will be there, including the new health plan, CIGNA and UBH, the new behavioral health provider for most of the health plans.
UC HR Benefits has already begun posting information about Open Enrollment on the At your Service website: http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/. They will continue to add more information as it becomes available. Information about the 2008 rates, the newly indexed salary bands, the discontinued health plans as well as the new health plans is already available. Once on the At Your Service website, just click on the “Open Enrollment for 2008” icon in the top center of the page. The announcement for Open Enrollment appears first with links at the bottom to the Open Enrollment information booklet. When you are ready, you can then click on the “Employee” tab for even more information.
If you were hired before August 31, 2007, in late October you will receive an Open Enrollment information booklet in the mail at your home address. If you do not receive your booklet or you were hired after August 31, 2007, the Open Enrollment booklet is available online, as mentioned above. The booklet gives you an overview of what your options are during Open Enrollment including information about plan changes, a medical plan summary spreadsheet so you can compare medical plans, how to make changes, and what your medical plan premium costs will be in 2008.
Some of this year’s Open Enrollment highlights:
- There is a new type of health plan choice, CIGNA Choice fund, which is an HRA/PPO
- PacifiCare is being discontinued; if you are a PacifiCare member and you do nothing, you will default to Health Net
- Behavioral Health Benefits will now be provided by UBH for almost all of the health plans (Kaiser members may use Kaiser or UBH this year)
- There is a dedicated wellness program, Staywell Health Management. There is an incentive program for taking their health assessment. This year, there is no cost to employees for this plan. Also this year, Staywell is not available to Kaiser members or those faculty and staff not enrolled in a medical plan.
- the legal plan is open for enrollment
- re-enroll/enroll in HCRA and DepCare. You must annually reenroll in the Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) and the Dependent Care Account (DepCare) to continue your participation into the following calendar year.
