Employee Initiated Reduction in Time (ERIT) Program
The University offers the Employee-initiated Reduction in Time (ERIT) Program to enable eligible career staff (except Senior Management Group members) to voluntarily reduce their working time and corresponding pay. Eligible employees may begin to sign up for ERIT immediately. This program has been extended from July 1, 2014 through June 30,2017.
Departments have the option to implement or not implement ERIT. In departments that choose to participate in ERIT, an employee may request the department head’s approval to voluntarily reduce working time, within specific limits, from a minimum of one month to a maximum of 36 months. Please see ERIT Frequently Asked Questions for more information. View a summary of the program here. For exclusively represented employees, participation in ERIT is subject to collective bargaining. Currently, the following unions have approved ERIT for their members: AFSCME, CUE, CNA, UCPD, UPTE (HX, TX, RX).
For contract extensions or new contracts effective July 1, 2014: Contract and amendment forms for employees paid semi-monthly or monthly must be received in the Campus Shared Services ("CSS") Human Resources/ APS-Records Management unit.
