Human Capital Management (HCM)
Human Capital Management (HCM) is the name of our human resources information system, which we use for recording personnel information and actions for members of the UC Berkeley community. The recruiting component is also used to administer the recruiting process for staff positions.
HCM is the system of record for faculty, staff, non-senate academic employees, undergraduate student employees, graduate student employees, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scholars. Certain affiliated groups, such as volunteers, consultants, and non-paid visiting scholars, are also included in this management system.
HCM passes data to other campus systems, including:
- Payroll system (PPS) to set up appointments and distribution for pay
- Data warehouse (HR BAIRS) for reporting on detail and aggregate data
