HCM: Contents of HR-BAIRS Data Warehouse

Yesterday's Data

HR-BAIRS is loaded nightly (Monday through Friday)with date from HCM.  Data in the warehouse is a "mirror" of data in HCM at the close of business the previous day.  On Mondays, HR-BAIRS contains data from HCM at the close of business on Friday.  Data entered in HCM over the weekend is not posted to HR-BAIRS until Tuesday morning.

Corrected Rows

HCM's correction mode allows certain users to overwrite data in previously entered records, and insert rows into the past (history). Only HR Data Services has correction capability. Data Services can be reached at hrmshelp@berkeley.edu or 510.643.4443

In some data warehouse models, "snapshots" of a large database (such as that of HCM) are archived, so that a user can go back to an old snapshot and see what the database actually looked like -- erroneous rows and all -- on a prior date.  HR-BAIRS does not work like this. Instead, during the nightly HR-BAIRS refresh, all rows of data are rebuilt from the data currently in HCM.  If a row in HCM has been corrected, the corrected data will be the one that appears in HR-BAIRS reports the next morning and from that time forward.

For audit-trail purposes, separate records of corrections to HCM are extracted and stored outside the HR-BAIRS database.  These stored transactions are available to Berkeley's Audit and Advisory Services Department as necessary.
