UPTE Technical Unit Contract: Status Update

The collective bargaining agreement expired on June 30, 2008 and has not been extended. The basic terms and conditions of employment for employees remain in effect. Some changes in terms and conditions of employment may require bargaining so departments contemplating business actions that will affect Technical unit employees are encouraged to consult with Human Resources before proceeding.
UPTE and the University agreed to an interim arrangement for compensatory time during the period November 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. The following terms apply to overtime worked during the period November 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009:
- Employees who signed CTO election forms as of June 30, 2008 will be allowed to accumulate compensatory time in lieu of paid time.
- UPTE will advise employees who were hired during the period July 1, 2008 through October 31, 2008 that they may request CTO election forms if the employing department offers CTO.
- Although not required, departments are free to offer CTO forms to employees hired during the period July 1, 2008 through October 31, 2008.
- Departments that offer employees the option of CTO should provide CTO forms to individuals hired during the period November 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.
