On-Site Classes

On-site computer classes are taught by AcademyX and are free to staff.
To Register for instructor lead training:
- Go to blu
- Authenticate using your Calnet ID
- Select UC Learning Center in the Self Service section.
- From there you can browse or search by topic or course code e.g. BECOE006* or “Excel 2010” to find the course or resource you seek.

- CreativeSuiteLovers.com - the goal of this group is to help creative people work smarter & faster. At every meeting we try to cover some intro topics along with power user tips, tricks and powerful (yet under-utilized) tools in the Adobe the Creative Suite.
- Learn.WordPress.com is a tutorial site with 12 detailed guides that are designed to get a new WordPress.com user up and running as quickly and easily as possible. The site is also useful for WordPress users who are looking to add features and upgrades to existing sites.

Safari Books Online is the premier on-demand digital library providing over 12,400 technology, digital media and business books and videos online, including a large assortment of O'Reilly Media books. To access Safari Books Online, follow these steps:

- Search for "Safari Books" then click "Start"

Communities of Practice – Technology
- AppNet: A platform-agnostic, community of practice welcome to anyone creating, deploying or managing web, desktop or mobile software for UC Berkeley.
- BDUG - Berkeley Drupal Users Group: Monthly meetings open to anyone interested in learning, teaching or networking about Drupal. Learn about Berkeley IST Drupal Cloud Hosting service initiatives.
- UCD - Campus User-Centered Design Group: User-centered design is a design philosophy and a process in which the needs, wants, and limitations of the users of a product are given attention at each stage of the design process. UCD is dedicated to improving the usefulness, usability, and user experience of campus projects by teaching, training and providing expertise about user-centered design.
- DataNet: A voluntary community of practice for UC Berkeley affiliates interested in database- and data-related topics, such as: database design and maintenance, data security, databases and business process analysis, heritage databases, and Excel as a data management tool.
- Micronet: A professional organization of employees who support users of microcomputers and workstations in campus departments.
- Social Media User Group (SMUG): This group has a bSpace site with useful resources. Contact Christina Sponselli (sponselli@berkeley.edu) to be added to the site.
