Campuswide Staff Recognition Practices and Programs
Want to nominate one of your staff members for a campus-wide award? Interested in knowing more about campus-wide recognition events for staff? Here's where you'll find information on a variety of campus programs.
Berkeley Campus Spot Award Program
The Berkeley Campus Spot Award allows supervisors, managers, and other campus individuals to recognize special achievements for non-represented staff employees as they occur. The objective of this program is to create role models and communicate the type of noteworthy accomplishments that the campus appreciates. This award lets employees know that someone has noticed their outstanding work. At the same time, it recognizes and reinforces the behaviors and values that are important at UC Berkeley.
Berkeley
Citation
Selectively awarded to staff, upon retirement, for outstanding
service to the university over the course of the recipient's career.
Nominees are those who have made unique contributions to the campus
and who have performed significantly above and beyond the call
of duty. The award consists of a framed certificate signed by
the Chancellor. Contact University Events and Ceremonies (ceremonies@dev.urel.berkeley.edu)
for more information.
Chancellor's
Community Service Awards
Every year the University selects several outstanding students,
staff members, and faculty who have made notable contributions
as volunteers to campus and community organizations. Contact Cal
Corps for more information.
Chancellor's
Outstanding Staff Awards
This award is conferred by the Chancellor, recognizing and honoring
outstanding achievement in carrying out the university's mission.

for staff in the Executive Program and those with academic titles.
Contact the Chancellor's
Staff Advisory Committee (CSAC) for further information.
Excellence
in Management
This Berkeley
Staff Assembly award recognizes outstanding managers and supervisors
who seek to improve workplace life. Themes for individual award
years vary. Open to all levels of employees with supervisory or
managerial responsibilities. Nominations must originate from staff
directly supervised by the nominee.
Service
Award and Retirement Gift Program
Service Awards are granted to employees who complete ten or more
years of University service at one-half time or more. Retirement
gifts and Certificates of Appreciation are presented to employees
who retire.
Staff
Events
Staff Appreciation Day. This yearly event is an outdoor
festival for campus staff. This is an opportunity for staff to
take a break, relax with co-workers and be appreciated for their
contributions to the campus. Contact Lillian Brock at 643-0680
for more information.
Take Your Child to Work Day. This campus-wide spring event encourages staff to bring their children and/or young relatives to the university for a series of educational and social events. The program provides children with the opportunity to be exposed to their parents' work life and to see what a university setting is like. Contact Human Resources for more information.
Workplace
Success Stories
