For PPSM Employees: Update on Achievement and Spot Awards Program

Rewarding high performance is important encouragement to those who are achieving success in special circumstances. In the last fiscal year, UC policy allowed the campus to distribute Spot Awards and, for the first time, Achievement Awards.  The UC Office of the President is developing guidelines for a systemwide recognition program that is currently pending approval from the UC Regents. If approved, it is likely that the UC recognition program will be similar to the existing program.

In the interim, UC locations have been asked to hold off implementing their local recognition programs in FY 2011-12.Since these awards are tied to performance goals, staff and supervisors should use this time to get annual goals in place for the year.

Until the new program is approved by the Regents, we have been asked to suspend the Berkeley Achievement and Spot Awards Program. No awards should be processed for FY 2011-12 until we receive further notice from UCOP.

When we receive an update from UCOP, we will communicate details to the campus and update the Recognition website at http://hrweb.berkeley.edu/compensation/recognition.
