As part of the effort to bring greater efficiency to operations across UC locations, the following initiatives--at both the campus and systemwide level--are major projects that will improve UC and UC Berkeley business processes over the next several years.
Initial efforts include:
- CalTime - part of Operational Excellence, this initiative is intended to improve and standardize timekeeping across campus by consolidating it into one online tool.
- Shared Services - UC Berkeley has several shared services centers housed in academic and administrative units. A pilot HR Center provides administrative support for about 3000 employees on campus, across 3 control units. A campuswide effort, also affiliated with Operational Excellence, has begun and will provide administrative support for Finance, HR, IT, and Research Administration across campus.
- UCPath - the systemwide effort to consolidate payroll, workforce administration, benefits, and leave administration transactions into one center that will serve all UC locations.
