CalTime is an Operational Excellence (OE) project that will automate and standardize UC Berkeley's timekeeping processes. In addition to providing an online timekeeping system, CalTime supports our transition to Campus Shared Services and alignment with the UC Office of the President's systemwide UCPath project.
We put a lot of thought into picking a tool to standardize timekeeping, spending 18 months reviewing options and consulting with other universities. Ultimately, we decided to extend our licenses with software called Kronos, which was already in use by 3,000 of our employees and used at other campuses throughout the UC System.
