Access & Identification
- Business Cards: The campus uses UCSF Campus Life Services as the designated printer of campus business cards. You'll need an authorizing signature to complete your order.
-
Employee ID/Cal 1 Card: Your Employee ID number will be assigned as soon as your record is entered into the Human Capital Management system when you are hired. It can take one or two days before the system is able to verify your employment and can issue your ID card, also known as the Cal 1 Card.
The Cal 1 Card is your permanent Employee ID card, and it is not transferable. This multi-purpose digital photo ID card combines multiple card technologies. In addition to serving as your photo identification card, this card will also permit you to gain access to campus buildings and events and allow you to take advantage of many University services. The card can also be used as a debit card to pay for purchases at selected locations on and around campus. - CalNet ID: Once you have your Employee ID number, you can visit this link to customize your CalNet ID (your Employee ID is the default) and change your passphrase. See the section entitled "Manage Your Identity" to make these changes. You will use your CalNet ID to gain online access to a multitude of campus resources and business systems.
- Library privileges: Staff and faculty employees are entitled to library privileges, and your Cal 1 Card will enable you to use them right away.
