CALTalent

The Program

The University of California, Berkeley campus, and all that it offers, is supported by a uniquely talented and dedicated staff. Retaining that staff is critical to the success of the university. There are many offerings to support career growth. Our resilient work culture demonstrates strides in practicing diversity and inclusion, and we continue to be successful in adopting new ways to work.

CALTalent is an internal talent-matching tool created to support career development and retention on campus. The program offers staff an option to learn about campus opportunities for building a career path within the University and provides hiring managers and advisors with a way to know where our talented staff resides.

*Note: As of May 9, 2024, the CalTALENT program is on a temporary hold for review.

How it works

Internal mobility is a strategy that benefits both employees and employers. It impacts career growth and advancement by creating a workplace culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and adaptability.

The goal of this networking resource is to successfully provide a confidential and informative process for putting you in front of new opportunities. The system creates a skills and expertise profile from the information submitted that can be anonymously presented to recruiters and hiring managers.

New Participant Profiles are provided to the Talent Acquisition Advisors for review every Friday. Participant Profiles are highlighted for four months from the date of submission. At that point, the information becomes part of the greater Network pool and remains available for review at any time.

The Redacted Resume

Resume redaction is the process of removing identification details from a resume. The goal is to help recruiters and hiring managers evaluate a potential candidate based on skills and experience, avoiding factors that could lead to unconscious or conscious biases.

To participate in CALTalent:

  1. Complete the CALTalent questionnaire (Google Form) and upload a redacted resume.

  2. Receive a confirmation email receipt indicating that your data was entered into the system, sorted by skills and experience.

  3. Please send any questions to the CALTalent team at caltalent@berkeley.edu.

Helpful Tip:

A resume should clearly emphasize skills, tools, and subject matter expertise.

What Happens Next:
